Magnetic Press has announced two new releases for summer:  the first English edition of Tony Sandoval’s award-winning graphic novel Doomboy in September, and an anthology edition of Dave Dorman’s dieselpunk Wasted Lands universe in July.
 
Doomboy was chosen as an Official Selection of the 2012 Festival d’Angouleme, Europe’s largest comic book festival, as well as winning the "Coup de Coeur" prize awarded by the Youth Jury.  It’s the coming-of-age story of a teenage boy who, after his girlfriend’s sudden death, decides to broadcast songs to her beyond the grave, playing under the name "Doomboy."  His music is broadcast all over town, and beyond… and suddenly his private life is turned upside down.
 
Sandoval’s other works include Nocturno, The Corpse and the Couch, and his most recent French release, The Sea Serpent.
 
The hardcover collection of Dave Dorman’s Wasted lands Omnibus will contain a recorded and re-lettered version of the first installment of the Rail graphic novel series.  It will also include several other short sequential tales, illustrated prose novellas, as well as concept and character art.  Out of print works from Penthouse Magazine and A-1 will be remastered and supplemented with new material as well.
 
Magnetic Press recently signed a worldwide supply agreement with Diamond Comic Distributors.  Magnetic Press is a recent addition to the publishing world, having been formed by Mike Kennedy and Wes Harris last year (see "Archaia, BOOM! Vets Form New Publisher").
