Hasbro is showing off its new Star Wars figures for the spring of 2004.  With the final chapter in the Star Wars saga set for a summer 2005 release, things should start to heat up in the Star Wars domain next summer.  A new group of the standard three and three-quarter-inch figures includes a Luke Skywalker figure from Return of the Jedi (complete with fabric cape), a R2-D2 with Drink Tray (a remnant of his service on Jabba the Hut's sail barge), and a R1-G4 (an old school astromech droid).  New twelve-inch figures include a Jawa 2-Pack, Garindan, the long-snooted informant from the Mos Eisley Cantina, and an Alec Guiness Obi-Wan Kenobi with lightsaber and a removable cloth coat.

Unfortunately for pop culture retailers, the coolest new Star Wars figures are Target exclusives.  The figures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan, Mace Windu, and Asajj Ventress are animation style sculpts based on the Clone Wars shorts done for the Cartoon Network.
