According to Variety Viggo Mortenson is set to play the lead in the New Line Cinema production of A History of Violence, the DC/Paradox graphic novel by John Wagner and Vince Locke. David Cronenberg is directing the film (see 'Cronenberg to Film Graphic Novel'), which will start shooting sometime this fall. An act of heroism, which gains nationwide publicity, is the catalyst for the action in A History of Violence, which chronicles the attempt of its main character to escape his past (see 'New Line Acquires DC's A History of Violence').
As was the case with Road to Perdition, another Paradox Press title that was made into a film, it will be necessary for retailers to alert potential customers to the fact that the New Line thriller, which is so far still entitled A History of Violence, is based on a graphic novel.
