Warner Bros. has moved the opening of its number one summer blockbuster, Batman Begins, from Friday, June 17th to Wednesday, June 15th. Spider-Man 2 opened on Wednesday last July and managed to amass more than $180 million by the end of the July 4th weekend. The advantage of opening on Wednesday is that hardcore fans can attend screenings during the film's opening days without having to compete with the weekend crowds. The disadvantage is that a Wednesday opening inevitably takes away from the initial weekend gross typically destroying any chance the film has to set an opening weekend record.
