Archaia Studios Press Publisher Mark Smylie told ICv2 about his line expansion plans at San Diego Comic-Con International last week.
The Lone and Level Sands is a 160-page, 5.25' x 8.25' hardcover with a $17.95 cover price, scheduled for December release. Originally published in black and white by Caption Box to critical acclaim, this retelling of the Book of Genesis written by A. David (Mortal Coil) Lewis, with illustrations by Marvin Perry Mann, will be in color for the first time.
Robotika will be a four-issue, full-color, bi-monthly comic mini-series for mature readers, cover-priced at $3.95, beginning in December. Described by Archaia as a 'steampunk sushi samurai western about loyalty, honor and revenge,' this series will have story and art by Alex (Moonstruck) Sheikman. The first issue features a cover by Ryan (Arkham Asylum, Hawkman) Sook.
Coming in 2006 will be Iron Empires: Blood und Iron, with story by Christopher (JLA: A League of One) Moeller and art by Peter (Hellboy Sourcebook) Bergting.
Smylie's fourth Artesia mini-series, Artesia Besieged, will debut in early 2006.
Hidetoshi Oneda, director of the short film La Bell Dame Sans Merci, which won the Best Science Fiction/Fantasy Film award by a paneled jury at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival, is currently working with Smylie on developing an Artesia prequel feature film, The Barrow.
