Viz Media has announced that Tetsuya Nakashima's Kamikaze Girls film will begin its North American theatrical tour in New York City where it will open at the Village East Cinemas on September 9th.  The live action film (see 'Viz to Release 'Kamikaze Girls''), which features two hot young J-Pop singers, colorful shojo manga style visuals, a complex, multi-layered plot, and a focus on cutting edge Japanese fashions, will then open in Los Angeles at the NuArt Theater on September 16th.

Next on the schedule after Los Angeles are showings in Seattle and San Francisco before gradually expanding to other North American cities.  Viz also plans to release the Kamikaze Girls on DVD in January and to publish a Kamikaze Girls novel and manga later in 2006.
