Christian Gossett, creator of The Red Star comic book and graphic novel series, has announced that the world famous Weta Workshop Design Team of New Zealand will collaborate on the new Red Star graphic novel, The Red Star: Sword of Lies.  Weta has won numerous Oscars for its work on films such as The Lord of the Rings trilogy and Peter Jackson's new version of King Kong.

Gossett was enthusiastic at the prospect of working on The Red Star with Weta.  'This is a dream come true for me,' he said.  'Richard Taylor's Weta Workshop has translated bold visions into stunning artistic realities.  That they have joined me to create the next chapter of The Red Star graphic novel series is an honor to the series, and a coup for the medium of comics.'

The new graphic novel, The Red Star: Sword of Lies, is the sequel to Prison of Souls, which has been translated into five languages and has sold nearly a million units worldwide.  In addition to the popular graphic novel series, The Red Star property has been licensed for video and role-playing games and Universal Pictures is developing a feature film based on the property with Russian phenom Timur Bekmambetov slated to direct (see 'Red Star Optioned').
