Dark Horse's merchandise division, Dark Horse Deluxe, is planning two spring releases based on Joss Whedon's cult-hit movie Serenity, a new ornament based on the film's eponymous spaceship and a set of three PVC figures based on key characters from the film.

Both the Limited Edition Serenity Variant Ornament (MSRP $24.99) and the Serenity PVC Set (MSRP $17.99) are slated to arrive in May 2007.

One of the most popular 2006 releases for Dark Horse Deluxe was the original Serenity Ornament, a near instant sell-out,which can be displayed in two ways--hung by a hook and eye or set on a stand with a dowel.  The new Limited Edition Serenity Variant Ornament is called Serenity in Disguise and depicts the ship as it looked after the crew modified it to look like one of the Reavers' vessels. Like the first Serenity Ornament this will be a limited edition release with a production run based on advance orders. No further manufacturing will take place after the initial edition size is set. The cut-off date for these advance orders is March 1, 2007, and Dark Horse advises that no reorders will be honored.

Dark Horse also is also planning a May releases for the first set of PVC features based on three of the movie's prominent characters. This set has been sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios, and includes the heroic Captain Malcolm Reynolds, the rough, but loveable Jane, and the mysterious River Tam.
