Andrew Neal of Chapel Hill Comics in Chapel Hill, NC read Steve Bennett's column (see 'Confessions of a Comic Book Guy--The Courting of the Tweens') and has another recommendation for a suitable tween title:

Bennett wrote:

'Surprisingly, between Marvel and DC it's The Marvel who's doing the best job creating material that'll appeal to this audience, with titles like the Franklin Richards specials, the Power Pack miniseries and, oddly enough, New X-Men.  Sure it's essentially One Tree Hill with super powers, but it's also the only X-title I'd feel entirely comfortable putting into the hands of a tween.  But both companies could be doing a lot more.'

First of all, I will certainly agree that both companies could do more to create comics for these audiences.  For this reason I'm very excited about the possibilities of DC's Minx line.  I sell a wide range of comics and graphic novels to kids and 'tweens,' but most of them aren't produced by Marvel and DC.

However, I would like to point out to you another X-series which would be a good recommendation for tweens: X-Men: First Class.  It's a fun series which deals with the original X-Men in a way suitable for younger folks.  It's worked well for us, so check it out when you have a chance.
