Taffy Entertainment, a division of the French audiovisual group Moonscoop, is shopping a 39-episode MixMaster: King of Cards animated series at MipCom.  Produced by Sunwoo in Korea, the MixMaster King of Cards anime, which Nickelodeon has aired in the U.K., Italy and Spain, is based on the MixMaster Online MMORPG, which has attracted more than 2.3 million subscribers.

The MixMaster: King of Cards animated series is closely related to the MixMaster King of Cards Trading Card Game, which targets kids from 6-11 and is popular in Korea and Japan.  In both the TCG and the online game the object is to acquire, mix and train monsters that are known as 'Henches.'

Marc Grossman, Director of Public Relations for Taffy Entertainment, told ICv2 that Taffy has merchandising rights for the MixMaster property outside of Asia.  Grossman also told ICv2 that although Taffy has had discussions with several companies about rights to the MixMaster TCG, nothing has been signed yet (reports that circulated last year concerning the acquisition of the TCG license were erroneous).  Placement of the MixMaster King of Cards animated series on American TV could be the key to any acquisition of TCG or toy rights, but as of now in North America, the MixMaster: King of Cards animated series is only appearing on Kabillion, a new VOD and online broadband channel that, like Taffy Entertainment, is a member of the Moonscoop Group.
