With the Netflix series set to premiere on August 5 (see "‘The Sandman’ Date"), The Sandman took up three slots on the Superhero chart, and in an unprecedented show of strength for the property, four volumes of Stranger Things charted as well. And the Author chart included three volumes of The Boys and three of Invincible, two series that grew their audiences after they were adapted for streaming.
Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman neatly bookends the Superhero chart, with the new edition of The Sandman: Book One in the number one spot, the second volume of the new edition at number 10, and the old edition of Volume 1 (which includes less material and also costs less) at number 20.
Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons is in fourth place, and it’s the first of four Stranger Things titles on the chart. The newest one is Stranger Things: The Tomb of Ybwen, which came out in April; the others are 2020 or 2021 releases. Volume 2 of Season 4 of the Netflix series premiered on July 1 (see "‘Stranger Things’ S4 Finale Trailer"), so that may be stirring up interest, but having four volumes of this series on the chart is unprecedented. The first volume of the series sold well enough to make the Top 20 Adult chart in May 2019, when it first came out, and stayed in the top 20 for three months. Since then, the occasional volume has popped up on the Superhero chart, but June 2022 is the first time that more than one volume has made the chart, let alone four. With a spinoff in the works (see "‘Stranger Things’ Spinoff"), we’re likely to see more Stranger Things on the Superhero chart in the future.
Four volumes of the Penguin Classics Marvel Collection, which was announced last year (see "Penguin Classics to Publish Collected Editions of Marvel Comics") made the chart. The hardcover edition of Spider-Man is in second place, the paperback is in ninth, and the hardcovers of Captain America and Black Panther are in 11th and 12th. The hardcovers may be selling better because these books appeal to collectors, but it’s also true that Amazon has discounted them to the point where they cost about the same as the paperbacks.

Amazon reported that the audience for The Boys has been growing (see "‘The Boys’ News"), and with Season 3 premiering on June 1, it’s not too surprising to see three volumes of the series in the top 20 for June. Less clear is why three volumes of Invincible made the chart; a second season is in the works, but no premiere date has been announced. The series topped our most recent list of top Author graphic novel franchises (see "Top Author Graphic Novel Franchises – Spring 2022"), so it seems to be consistently popular.
The top six slots in the Author chart are taken up by volumes of Solo Leveling and Lore Olympus, both of which started out as webtoons, and we can expect Solo Leveling to get a streaming boost when the anime launches on Crunchyroll next year (see "‘Solo Leveling’ Anime").
