The difference this makes is obvious: There are five YA titles on the chart. Four are volumes of Alice Osman’s Heartstopper, which started as a webcomic and has been adapted as a Netflix series. The other one is the first volume of Five Nights at Freddy’s, a graphic novel series based on Scott Cawthon’s horror-themed video games (which have also spun off a series of prose novels).
The January chart is different for another reason: There are only six Dav Pilkey volumes in the Top 20, which probably hasn’t happened since there were only six Dav Pilkey graphic novels in print. That’s a big shift from December, when there were 14 Dog Man and Cat Kid titles on the chart (see "Pro: December 2022 – Top 20 Kids"), so it’s not due just to the YA books. There’s just more of everything else: four volumes of Baby-Sitters Club, three of Wings of Fire, plus two more slice-of-life graphic novels, Sweet Valley Twins: Best Friends, on the chart for the third month in a row, and Raina Telgemeier’s Guts.
What’s not different is that the chart is dominated by Graphix titles, with Sweet Valley Twins the only outlier. Graphix has been publishing YA titles since 2018, when it released Hey Kiddo; and they picked up Heartstopper in 2020 (see "Graphix to Publish ‘Heartstopper’").
