NECA has announced it has acquired the license to produce action figures and collectibles based on Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses cult-hit horror film, along with characters from the upcoming sequel, The Devil's Rejects:  House of 1000 Corpses Part II, both from Lion's Gate Films.

The original low-budget film, which debuted a little over a year ago, has generated around $12 million in domestic ticket sales since release.  In the sequel, which will be written and directed by Zombie, the Firefly family, psychos who delve in murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals, take their horrific antics on the road after their home is burned down during a police raid, with a group of revenge-minded bounty hunters on their trail.

NECA plans to at least have prototypes available to show at the San Diego ComiCon in July.

Zombie, in addition to his House of 1000 Corpses film work, has teamed with Steve Niles on other horror movie projects and comics (see 'Niles Teams With Zombie').
