Man of Steel star Henry Cavill told Peter Travers on "Popcorn" on ABC.com that he doesn’t think the Justice League movie is "around the corner." The film is at an early stage of development; it’s part of David Goyer’s three-picture writing deal (Man of Steel, Man of Steel 2, and Justice League, see "'Man of Steel' Sequel Fast-Tracked").
Asked about the possibility of a Justice League film, Cavill at first protests that he doesn’t know, but then seems to know quite a bit. "Justice League could be great if done correctly," he said. "It’s a very tough one to do because the DC comic heroes are all god-like in their power and so in this real-world setting we’re telling our story in it’s tough to achieve that. It has to be done very delicately and with a lot of thought. It won’t be right away, I hope it’s not anyway."
He suggests that there may need to be other films beyond Man of Steel building up to Justice League. "It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and then introducing them together in one way or another," he said. "I think it would be great to do, but I don’t think it’s around the corner."
The differences between DC’s movie program and Marvel’s are stark; there are four movies a year featuring Marvel characters scheduled over the next two years (see "More Marvel Movie Moves").
The exchange on Justice League is at 11:35 of the video.
