Marvel Comics has revealed that actor Brian Patrick Wade (Generation Kill, Teen Wolf) will play Marvel Universe villain Crusher Creel (aka "The Absorbing Man") in the premiere episode of the ABC TV series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on September 23rd at 9pm (ET, PT). Creel is just the first in a batch of characters from the Marvel U who will make their debuts during the upcoming season of the S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show.
Created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, Crusher Creel first appeared in Journey into Mystery #114 in 1965. He was a boxer who became the Absorbing Man after drinking a potion that Loki laced with otherworldly elements that gave Creel the power to absorb the properties of anything that he touches. Creel as the Absorbing man has taken on Thor, Hulk, as well as the Avengers, and the Absorbing Man was also included in an iteration of Masters of Evil supervillain team.
Other newcomers expected during the second season of S.H.I.E.L.D. include the "almost" Wonder Woman Adrianne Palicki, who will play Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird), and Lucy Lawless (see "Lucy Lawless Joining 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'"), who will play Agent Isabelle Hartley.
