Plaid Hat Games has announced a September release date for Rob Daviau’s third “legacy”-style board game: SeaFall: A Legacy Game.

SeaFall is set in a world of sailing ships, uncharted islands, and lost civilizations.  Players set out to explore the seas, searching for new lands and forgotten lore in a dark age, earning wealth and fame during their voyages.

This is the third similar design from Daviau, who is going for a hat trick following hit successes with Risk Legacy and Pandemic Legacy.  Like the earlier games, SeaFall evolves from one game to the next, with permanent changes to the playing environment based on the actions of the players in each game.  Using sealed packs of cards that are modified during play, the game’s epic storyline is revealed, and each group’s experience with the game will be unique.

Unlike the earlier designs, in SeaFall Daviau has designed a game setting around the legacy mechanic, rather than converting an existing game system.

SeaFall is designed for 3 to 5 players, ages 14 and up, and takes about 2 hours to play.  The game will include 1 game board, 1 Captain’s Book, 95 cards, 10 plastic ships, 40 wooden cubs, and game tokens.  MSRP is $79.99.
