Barnes & Noble is offering a heavy dose of geek in its third annual Get Pop-Cultured event, which runs July 6 through August 7.
The company, which has been expanding game events in the past year (see "Barnes & Noble Expands Game Events to All 640 Stores"), is incorporating games into two of its events. At the Star Wars event, planned for July 15, attendees will offered the chance to learn how to play Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars X-Wing. And at the Pokemon event on July 17, attendees can learn how to become a Pokemon Champion.
Events around both of the Big Two American comic publishers are planned, with a DC event at which a free Suicide Squad Special Edition #1 will be given away on July 23. The store will have a to-be-disclosed special offer on DC graphic novels from July 20-24.
The Marvel event on August 6 will feature free samplers, including the first storyline for Mosaic. B&N will be offering a special deal on Marvel graphic novels from July 25 through August 7.
And a manga event on July 16 offers drawing and coloring activities from Camilla d”Errico, giveaways, cosplay, and other activities. B&N will offer a special deal on manga from July 6-19.
Other Get Pop-Cultured events include activities centered around Finding Dory, Tokidoki, Comic Convention Collectibles (including Diamond Collectibles and Funko), and the Harry Potter Countdown to Midnight Party on July 30.
