Marvel’s new comic box line, Marvel Graphic Comic Boxes, is a promotional tool tied to significant launches, a Marvel spokesperson told ICv2.  Two products, one tied to Champions and one tied to Monsters Unleashed, have been announced to date. “Right now we’re viewing them as part of our promotional packages for fans and retailers surrounding large events and key titles – hence Monsters Unleashed and Champions,” a Marvel spokesperson told ICv2. “We’ll use them time to time as different ideas and opportunities pop up.”

Marvel may also expand its branded collector supply products beyond boxes.  “[W]e’re always looking to expand into other products for promotional purposes of our titles,” the spokesperson said.

The first box is the Marvel Graphic Comic Box Champions (bundle of 5 for $25.00 MSRP), planned for December release. The box features artwork from the recently launched Champions series (see “Preview: 'Champions' #1”). The 15-1/2" x 7-5/8" x 10-7/8" boxes hold anywhere from 150 to 200 comics.

The second release in the line is the Marvel Graphic Comic Box Monsters Unleashed (bundle of 5 at $25.00 MSRP) in January. The box will include artwork from Marvel’s upcoming Monsters Unleashed initiative (see “Marvel Unleashes The Monsters”).
