Written by Chip Zdarsky (Star-Lord, Sex Criminals) and drawn by Adam Kubert (X-Men, Avengers), Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man is billed as a companion to Amazing Spider-Man (see “Zdarsky and Kubert Take Spider-Man Back to Basics”). The first issue will hit stands on June 21.

The party kit contains exclusive goodies for qualifying retailers: invitational postcards (bundle of 100), masks (two bundles of 8), a variant cover featuring artwork by Mike Deodato, Jr. (Thanos), ordering discounts, and downloadable cake toppers. Retailers will also be able to order the Deodato variant and the premiere variant featuring artwork by Adam Kubert.

To participate, retailers must opt in before May 15.

On June 28, Marvel is releasing six $1 True Believer issues featuring the hero’s best stories (see “Spider-Man Shares His Best Stories for $1”), and Amazing Spider-Man has been a solid seller, with the #25 issue topping the March sales chart and earning the rare position of million dollar book in the North American market (see “'Amazing Spider-Man' #25 a Million Dollar Book”).

The latest entry in the Spider-Man movie franchise, Spider-Man: Homecoming, is set to hit theaters on July 7 (see “New 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' Clip”).
