The ripples of the catastrophe that has reshaped the universe of Warhammer 40,000 will extend into role playing games as well, with the announcement that Ulisses North America now has a license from Games Workshop to produce a new RPG. Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Wrath & Glory will release in 2018.
Set after the events that form the basis of Warhammer 40,000 8th Edition (see “New ‘Warhammer 40,000’ Emerges”), Wrath & Glory will allow players to create adventures set in the grim darkness of that war-wracked galaxy. Players can take on a variety of roles, including not only agents of the Imperium of Man, but also some of the setting’s iconic alien races.
Development for the game is being helmed by Ulisses North America’s Product Line Developer Ross Watson, whose credits include work on Star Wars: Edge of the Empire as well as the previous Warhammer 40,000 role playing games Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, and Deathwatch. It will feature an all-new rules system built around dice pools, with a focus on fast-paced action and brutal combat.
Ulisses North America, a division of Germany’s Ulisses Spiele, will be working with Paizo, Inc. for the distribution of the new game, alongside Ulisses’ other titles The Dark Eye (see “New Titles, New Schedule for ‘Dark Eye’”) and Torg Eternity (see “Ulisses Reveals ‘Torg Eternity’ RPG”).
The fantasy side of Warhammer role playing is under the mantle of Cubicle 7 Entertainment, in both classic (see “Cubicle 7 to Revive ‘Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay’”) and Age of Sigmar versions (see “‘Warhammer Age of Sigmar Roleplaying Game’”).
