If Quentin Tarantino does make a Star Trek film, it will be an R-rated feature. The adult rating was a condition of Tarantino’s participation, and Paramount and producer J.J. Abrams agreed, according to Deadline.
Although Tarantino’s interest in making a Star Trek film was just revealed earlier this week (see "Tarantino Circling 'Star Trek'"), there’s already been more progress, with a writers room having been convened with Tarantino and a plan developed for one of the three writers involved to write the screenplay. Tarantino’s next film is a feature about the Manson summer starring Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, but the goal is apparently to have a script ready by the time that’s done shooting so he can go straight into working on Star Trek.
