Michael Green (American Gods, Blade Runner 2049), Vaughan, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force (American Crime Story, Pose), have been working to bring the project to fruition for several years. The series has been stalled since Green was named showrunner and writer in 2016 (see “'Y: The Last Man' Series Names Showrunner”), but Green’s departure from Starz’s American Gods put the project back in motion (see “ The Last Man' Tv Series News, 'Black Lightning' Ratings, 'The Tick' Renewed, 'Umbrella Academy' Filming, 'Snowpiercer' Greenlit, Gillian Anderson Off Geek Shows”). Aida Mashaka Croal (Jessica Jones, Luke Cage) will co-showrun the revived series with Green. Melina Matsoukas (Insecure) has been tapped to direct the pilot.
