CMON has shared details and images for the new board game based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr’s original Kick-Ass comic series. The game will release on August 31.
CMON announced plans for the game at Gen Con last year (see “CMON Unveils High-Profile Games”). New York City has a criminal problem. The police can’t handle the crime wave, or are too corrupt to care. So vigilantes have arrived to fill the gap. They may be stopping crime – but they also have to be home for dinner time! They’ll save the day – but only if it doesn’t conflict with their active social life.
The players take the role of a masked vigilante (each with different gear and special activation cards), and must work with other crimefighters to stop the Evil Boss. Each round, players travel the Districts, thwarting minions, helping citizens in need, and also attempt to keep their personal life functioning. Each game, players pick one of 5 bosses, allowing for good replayablity.
The box includes: 45 miniatures, 1 map board, 17 dice, 7 hero dashboards, 1 final plot track, 2 incoming tracks, 245 cards, 132 tokens, 27 counter bases, and a rulebook. the game is for 1 – 4 players, ages 18 and up, and plays in 60 – 90 minutes. MSRP is $59.99.
At the end of last year, series creator Millar moved the Kick-Ass universe from Marvel to Image Comics, as part of plans to launch a new Hit-Girl comic and a new Kick-Ass saga (see "Millar Moves the Rest of Kick-Ass Universe to Image").
