Dark Horse Comics is taking Black Hammer back to World War II in a new miniseries. Black Hammer ’45 harkens back to the Golden Age of Superheroes as writers Jeff Lemire (Black Hammer, Descender) and Ray Fawkes (Batman: Eternal, One Soul) and artist Matt Kindt (Mind MGMT, Ether) pit the Black Hammer Squadron against Nazis, occult threats, and the Ghost Hunter. The first of four issues is on sale March 6.
Lemire and Dean Ormston’s Black Hammer and its spinoffs have garnered critical acclaim, earning multiple Eisner nominations and awards (see “ 'Saga' Stands Out at the 2017 Eisners”). Legendary Entertainment has optioned the property for multiple film and television projects (see “Legendary Envisions Multiple Adaptations for Lemire's 'Black Hammer'”).
