Marvel will mark 80 years in the comics business with an oversized anniversary hardcover for the book that launched a comics universe. Marvel Comics #1: 80th Anniversary Edition is a 232-page commemoration of 1939’s Marvel Comics #1. It will be in stores on August 7 for an MSRP of $29.99. Frank R. Paul covers the collection.
Marvel Comics #1: 80th Anniversary Edition reprints Marvel Comics #1, Saga of the Original Human Torch #1, Marvels #0, and Marvel Comics #1 70th Anniversary Edition alongside bonus artwork, essays, retrospectives. and more. It includes contributions from Carl Burgos, Paul Gustavson, Bill Everett, Al Anders, Art Pinajian, Ben Thompson, Roy Thomas, Alex Ross, Steve Darnall, and Rich Buckler.
Marvel has big plans for its 80th anniversary celebration (see “Marvel Reveals More of 80th Anniversary Celebration”), including the release of several special collections (see "Marvel Announces 80th Anniversary Publishing Program”), as well as the return of Marvel Comics Presents, Invaders (see "’Marvel Comics Presents’ and ‘Invaders’ Return"), and Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal (see "Ziggy Pig and Silly Seal Return).
