Dark Horse Comics will release Flaming Carrot Comics Omnibus, a massive collection of Bob Burden’s Eisner-award winning surrealist superhero on September 18.

Flaming Carrot Comics by Bob Burden won the Eisner Award in 2007 for Best Humor Publication (see “DC Dominates Eisners”).

The Flaming Carrot was at the forefront of the 1980’s New Wave comic revolution, and was dubbed the world’s first postmodern super-man. He went a little daffy when he read 5,000 comics in a single sitting to win a bet, suffered brain damage, and then came out the other side as the Flaming Carrot. He was a founding member of the blue-collar superhero group Mystery Men, has thwarted at least three alien invasions, a Communist takeover of his hometown of Iron City, and a cloned horde of evil Hitler boots.  He possesses  no real superpowers, but instead carries the day with grit, determination, luck and stupidity. He teamed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, has Battled Road Hots from outer Space, and went on a drinking binge with Death.

The 416-page paperback omnibus includes Flaming Carrot #1-2, 4 – 11, 25 – 27. MSRP is $24.99.

Late last year, Burden was in the news for listing his copy of Cancelled Comics Cavalcade, a rare DC Comics ashcan edition to help finance a relaunch of Flaming Carrot (see “Bob Burden Is Selling His 'Cancelled Comics Cavalcade'”).
