Top Shelf Productions' fall-winter lineup includes a graphic novel based on Edmund White’s 1982 novel A Boy’s Own Story, which draws on White’s own memories of being a gay adolescent in the Midwest in the 1950s. The novel has become a landmark work of LGBTQ+ literature. The adaptation is co-written by White, Brian Alessandro, and Michael Carroll, who bring their own experiences to this creative adaptation. The artist is Igor Karash. The 264-page hardcover is printed in landscape format, with about an 11” by 8” trim size, and is recommended for mature readers. The book is scheduled for December release with an MSRP of $29.99.
Also coming up from Top Shelf is Super Trash Clash, by Edgar Camacho, an action tale about a woman’s nostalgia for a truly terrible video game. Dul wanted the latest video game for her birthday, but her mother bought her a terrible one instead. Years later, a copy she finds in a secondhand store brings back memories of her childhood and the way gaming factored into her friendships and family bonds. The book is filled with Easter eggs and allusions to video games. This 96-page, square format paperback, with a 7” by 7” trim size, is recommended for ages 10 and up. It will go on sale on November 29 with an MSRP of $14.99.
