The Saturday A.M. line of manga-style comics featuring diverse creators and characters is finding success at Walmart, with more stores carrying a growing roster of titles, publisher Quarto Group told ICv2. The line is built from collections of webcomics, which bring strong audiences to the print collections (see "Quarto to Publish Saturday A.M.").
The line first appeared at some Walmart stores this summer with four titles; two of them, Apple Black Vol. 1 and Saigami Vol. 1, were widely placed (which we saw at a local Walmart Supercenter, see "Walmart Channel Check"). The line will be expanding with Saturday AM Annual 2023 hitting stores around Christmas, and Clock Striker Vol. 1, Yellow Stringer Vol. 1, and Saturday AM Presents How to Draw Diverse Manga hitting stores in 2023.
"Retailers like Walmart have embraced Saturday AM’s mission, their diverse roster of creators and are helping to open doors for new manga nationwide," a Quarto spokesperson said of the expansion.
