Wizards of the Coast offered up a first look at Magic: The Gathering: Wilds of Eldraine, the next Standard set.  This set will hit stores on September 8, 2023 (see " 'Magic: The Gathering - Wilds of Eldraine'").

For the return trip to the fairy tale land of Eldraine (see " 'Throne of Eldraine' Product Line"), WotC has crafted a tale of a Wicked Slumber that has been cast over the land by Talion and three witches, much like the tale of Sleeping Beauty. Ashiok, being a nightmare-loving planeswalker, took advantage of all the sleeping creatures to prey on their bad dreams.  Will and Rowan are having a spat after the death of their father during the Phyrexian invasion, and a new hero, Kellan, Lord of the High Fae, makes his presence known.

The set brings back the Adventure mechanic, but with a twist.  There are now multicolor Adventure cards that appear in both in regular storybook frame and the showcase Adventure treatment.  The set features a variety of borderless cards and extended art cards.

And, of course, what would a Magic set be these days without a cornucopia reprints?

Like The Brothers' War's Retro Artifacts or Strixhaven: School of Mages's Mystical Archive, this set has another round of non-Standard legal reprints with special storybook artwork.  There are 63 cards available with this Storybook treatment, including once pricey cards like Smothering Tithe, Rhystic Study, and Greater Auramancy. WotC also prints Doubling Season for the fifth time, which last saw a printing in 2020 (see "'Double Masters' Set").
