Titan has announced a new license in its Titan Manga imprint: Speed Grapher, by Tomozo, a three-volume adaptation of the anime by Gonzo. The mature-rated anime currently runs on Crunchyroll. The story is set in a supernatural red-light district of Tokyo where photographer Tatsumi Saiga is investigating stories of a 15-year-old girl whose body fluids can bestow superpowers on others. The girl, Kagura, is being exploited by a sex club, and when Saiga tries to photograph her, she kisses him, giving him the power to kill people by taking their picture with his camera. The two then go on the run from the powerful, corrupt organization that runs the club.
The first volume of the series will go on sale on April 23, 2024, with an MSRP of $12.99.
Tokyopop published the first two volumes of the series in 2008 (see “‘Speed Grapher’ Manga”) but cancelled the third volume after it was solicited, at a time when the publisher was going through financial problems (see “Tokyopop Says ‘Worst Retailing Environment’”).
