Dark Horse Comics will publish a print edition of DD Markk’s Ruthless Render, an action-packed manga-style webtoon that mixes horror, supernatural battles, and teenage romance.  The comic has over 11 million views on the MangaPlus Creators website, and DD Markk has 56,000 followers on Instagram.  The first volume, a 192-page paperback, will be released on September 17, 2024 in bookstores and September 18 in comic shops, with an MSRP of $12.99.

The story follows a teenage loan shark, Castiel, who is murdered and then resurrected and must now follow the orders of the shadowy group who brought him back.  Tasked with slaying the devil himself, Castiel must dodge numerous perils in a world where some beings can create real-life horrors just by speaking about them.  Dark Horse compares it to the manga series One-Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100, and Blood Blockade Battlefront.

"With every chapter of Ruthless Render, my goal is to deliver a rollercoaster ride of action, horror, and teenage romance,” DD Markk said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “This story goes beyond mere battles with monsters; it's a journey of friendship, dreams, and the courage to face and conquer our inner demons."

Dark Horse recently announced its first Millarworld title (see “Dark Horse Millarworld Titles Kick Off with ‘Nemesis’”).
