Silver Sprocket will release PeePee PooPoo #1, as creator Caroline Cash takes over as one of an all-star group of guest artists on the daily Nancy strip, the company announced.

Silver Sprocket, a San Francisco-based radical indie comics publisher, published three previous issues of Cash’s gay, modern takes on 60s undergound comix last year, all with gag numbering: PeePee PooPoo #69, #80085, and #420.  The title received an Eisner nomination as Best Limited Series this year (see "2024 Eisner Nominations").

Cash’s oeuvre, which also includes her graphic novel, Girl in the World, was enough to get her the opening run in a line-up of female cartoonists filling in with guest slots on Nancy to replace regular artist Olivia Jaimes, who’s taking a break from the series.  Cash will begin a three-week run on the strip on July 22, followed by Leigh Luna, Shaenon K. Garrity, and Megan McKay, and perhaps others; Jaimes has not given a firm date for her return to the strip. Jaimes was the first woman to write and draw Nancy; she took over in 2018 (see "’Nancy: A Comic Collection’").

In PeePee PooPoo #1, which continues as a single-creator anthology title, Cash finds a fresh start is hard to make in "Ah, Philly;" romance blossoms in "First Date;" Cash updates a classic Alison Bechdel comic in "Femme and Butch;" and a night out gets complicated in “Stoned Again.”

PeePee PooPoo issues are 32-page, 8-1/2" x 11" saddle-stitched comics, sold at $9.99 MSRP.  The #1 issue will be released August 14.
