Massive Publishing announced the upcoming release of The Exiled, Wesley Snipes’ graphic novel.
The sci-fi noir, described as "Seven meets Blade Runner," was previously published as six issues in 2023 after a successful crowdfunding campaign. In single issues, the series sold over 200,000 copies. Crowdfunding supporters previously could receive a graphic novel version, but this is the first time the collected edition will be available in mass market book and comic stores. The Exiled collection is due out in October 2024 at a suggested price of $16.99.
The Exiled uses Snipes’ likeness and input to tell the story of hardboiled detective Niles "Roach" Washington as he pursues a serial killer who rips the spines from his victims. Roach, following his instincts, discovers a conspiracy with ancient roots. The project was a collaboration between writers Adam Lawson and Keith Arem, who worked previously with Snipes on the Demolition Man video game; series artist Eskivo; and Snipes’s production company Maandi House Studios.
Snipes’ major previous comic connection is playing Blade in Marvel movies. His appearance as the character in Deadpool & Wolverine set two records, according to Guinness World Records. He is the actor with the longest career as a Marvel character, with his first and latest appearances as the half-vampire 25 years and 340 days apart (beating out Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, with a 24-year tenure). Snipes also has the record for the longest gap between character appearances in Marvel films. He last played Blade 19 years and 231 days ago in Blade: Trinity; the previous record-holder was Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus in 2004 and 2021.
