Alien Books has hired former BOOM! Studios Sales Coordinator Manny Castellanos as Sales & Operations Manager for its full line of comics, graphic novels, and manga, including its new Valiant Comics titles.
Castellanos arrived at BOOM! Studios in June 2022 after a four-year stint at Mad Cave Studios (see "People on the Move: Two New Hires, Two Promotions at BOOM! Studios"). As Sales Coordinator, his duties included sending out the weekly newsletter for retailers and working with Diamond to facilitate distribution. Prior to that, he was a sales associate at Hope's Comics in Miami, Florida.
"Manny is joining at a critical time for Alien Books as we have two major releases on the horizon,” Alien Books Director Matias Timarchi said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “We have been building up to the Resurgence of the Valiant Universe event all year and having Manny on board to help us get over the finish line ahead of the launch of the first issue is going to be a such a huge help for us and our retailer partners."
Alien took over the Valiant line in 2023 and announced its newest event in April (see "Resurgence of the Valiant Universe").
