Frenzy over new Pokemon TCG releases, which peaked during the Covid pandemic (see "Pickers Use Tracking Tile" and "Mass Merchants Pull ‘Pokemon’ Off Shelves") is ratcheting up again, with the early release at Costco of Scarlet & Violet: Blooming Waters, a new Premium Collection for Pokemon TCG, led to mayhem at some stores.
The box contains 12 booster packs and promo cards from the 2023 Scarlet & Violet – 151 set (see "’Blooming Waters’"). After incidents at its stores, Costco has been pulling any in-store stock off sale, and will sell remaining inventory online.
Hobby release is scheduled for February 7. Sales on eBay for the box, which had an MSRP of $59.99, have been running at $70 to $150, with many sales clustered just over $100 each.
