When the CW network announced its fall 2013 lineup, the eagerly-awaited Wonder Woman “origin” series, aka Amazon, was conspicuous by its absence, in spite of the fact that as late January 27th the network was still holding out hope that the Amazon series would join the network’s hit Arrow (based on DC’s Green Arrow) on the fall 2013 schedule (see "No Pilot Order Yet for 'Wonder Woman'"). Despite that apparent setback, the CW is once again dangling the prospect of a Wonder Woman series with an announcement that the network is tapping Heroes writer Aron Eli Coleite to write a new pilot script for a Wonder Woman series.
CW President Mark Pedowitz told The Hollywood Reporter that a Wonder Woman series remains a top priority at the network, though he also noted that the Amazonian princess "is the trickiest of all the DC characters to get done." According to Pedowitz, the Wonder Woman series "is being redeveloped, we’re waiting for the script to come in, we haven’t seen it yet." The good news is that the CW is ready "to pilot the series off-cycle should the script be what we want it to be." This could make a mid-season debut possible, though the bad news is that we have heard these sorts of optimistic projections from Network execs before, though a new Wonder Woman TV series remains elusive.
