
The property was originally acquired for $1 million by Universal (see "Universal Options 'Tommysaurus Rex'"), but several drafts went nowhere. The project ended up in turnaround, where it was picked up by Mary Parent, a Universal executive when it acquired the rights. Parent and Cale Boyter are now producing, and the film is back at Universal.
The comic was originally published by Image; a new edition of the graphic novel was released by Scholastic’s Graphix imprint last year.
