Variety is reporting that Jeff Parker's self-published (by Octopus Books) graphic novel Interman, which was optioned by producer Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Productions at Paramount in 2003, is now set up at New Line Cinema. With its echoes of James Bond and Robert Ludlum's Bourne books, New Line sees Interman as a potential new action-adventure franchise. Now that the Lord of the Rings has run its course, New Line is developing a number of possible big-budget franchises including the fantasy trilogy, His Dark Materials. Add Jeff Parker's Interman, a tale of man who discovers that little by little that he has been genetically engineered by the government to be a highly adaptive (he can grow gills if necessary) and nearly unstoppable assassin, to the list of potential New Line blockbusters.
Parker, who received an Eisner nomination for Interman, has gone on to work on a number of projects for Marvel & DC. He is currently writing Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four and 8-page Werewolf by Night back-up stories for Marvel.
