On the movie’s official Facebook page, 20th Century Fox announced the release dates for the four sequels to James Cameron’s Avatar. The current dates are: Dec. 18, 2020; Dec. 17, 2021; Dec. 20, 2024; and Dec. 19, 2025 (see “Best in Shows--Q4 2020”). The last news on release delays was last month, when Cameron told The Toronto Star that the films would be delayed yet again. Avatar 2 was supposed to release in 2014, then was pushed back to 2018, as part of a series of movies filmed sequentially (see “'Escape From New York,' 'Power Rangers 2,' 'Archer & Armstrong,' 'Suicide Squad 2,' More”).
There were also updates for three Marvel-related projects for 2018, Deadline reported. The X-Men spinoff New Mutants will take a previously reserved space on Fox’s calendar, April 13. Fox had initially reserved March 2, but shifted the spring project here (see “Best in Shows--Q2 2018”). Another reserved date in June has been shifted, moving from June 29 to June 1, where Deadpool 2 will make its debut (see “Best in Shows--Q2 2018”). Finally, on November 2, 2018, the X-Men spinoff Dark Phoenix will release, centering on Jean Grey and the Phoenix force (see “Best in Shows--Q4 2018”).
Fox has also moved The Predator from a February 9 opening to a mush warmer August 3 spot (see “Best in Shows--Q3 2018”).
