New York Comic Con had a few revelations for upcoming and existing TV series.

Hulu released the first trailer for Marvel’s Runaways. The trailer sets up the basic premise: a group of teens discovers their parents are literally (not figuratively) evil. The series is based on the award-winning graphic novel series from Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona, and Hulu is betting on its success (see “Hulu Orders ‘The Runaways’ to Series”). The series will debut on Hulu on November 21, but there hasn’t been a lot of information released about the series until now. The core cast was announced in February (see “'Runaways,' 'Black Lightning,' and 'The Devil'”), and Buffy and Angel favorite James Marsters heads the supporting cast (see “James Marsters in 'Runaways'”). (With the release of the trailer, we can finally confirm that a certain genetically engineered dinosaur makes an appearance!)

The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman played it coy during the TWD panel at NYCC, revealing that the worlds of The Walking Dead and prequel spinoff Fear the Walking Dead will collide. “There is one character that is going to go from one show, that I will not name, to another show, that I will not name,” Kirkman told the crowd (via The Hollywood Reporter). The eighth season of The Walking Dead will debut on October 22 (see “'Walking Dead' Season 8 Teaser”).

Black Lightning has cast another villain: Entertainment Weekly reports that Grammy Award-winning singer and actress Jill Scott (Why Did I Get Married) will play Lady Eve. Scott’s Lady Eve will join forces with Tobias Whale (played by rapper Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) to antagonize Black Lightning in the CW series. This is Scott’s second foray into comics adaptations; she previously voiced Storm on Black Panther, a stop-motion comics series produced for BET (see “'Who Is Black Panther' Launches This Week”). Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) is playing fresh-from-retirement superhero (see “First 'Black Lightning' Trailer”). The series is expected to debut in 2018.
