Dynamite Entertainment and Lynnvander Studios have partnered to produce a co-operative board game starring the She-Devil with a Sword, Red Sonja. The game is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter.
Red Sonja: Hykania’s Legacy includes artwork from Dynamite’s comic series. The cooperative adventure game sends players on quests, and later traveling through the land to seek artifacts, treasures, monsters and more. The game features modular tiles, which offer good replayability.
The retail version of the game will include 4 quest cards, 40 encounter cards, 60 equipment cards, 6 character cards, 70 realm tiles, a 3D castle, 6 metal coins, 4 stones of chance, and tons of tokens. MSRP is tentatively set at $40.00. The game is for 1 – 4 players and takes 60 – 90 minutes to play (120 minutes including setup and instructions).
The deluxe Kickstarter edition also includes 14 desert tiles, 8 encounter cards, 2 quest cards, 14 character cards, and legacy line character cards.
There is a retailer backer level for 4 copies of the retail edition of the game, plus stretch goals. Backer fulfillment is scheduled for May, with trade release to follow.
Dynamite and Lynnvander previously partnered to create a board game based on ReAnimator (see "Lovecraft's 'ReAnimator' Gets His Own Board Game"). Dynamite is launching a new Red Sonja miniseries set in the Legenderry universe in February (see "Return to Bill Willingham's 'Legenderry' Steampunk Universe").
