Taschen will release The History of EC Comics, a 592-page oversize hardcover written and edited by Grant Geissman, in October. This history of one of the most important publishers in the history of U.S. comics will include more than 1,000 illustrations, including the rarest and most notorious covers, interior pages and panels, photos, vintage original artwork, and some of the most celebrated stories ever published in comics. The material includes more than 100 rarities from the Gaines family archives that have never seen print.
The first printing is a numbered first edition of 5,000 copies. Trim size is 11.4" x 15.6". Readers will need to be in shape when they get this volume, which weighs 13.3 pounds. MSRP is $200.
This volume follows two other massive histories of U.S. comic publishers published by Taschen: 75 Years of DC Comics (see "’75 Years of DC Comics’") and 75 years of Marvel Comics (see "’75 Years of Marvel Comics’").
