Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood’s Zombies Vs. Robots is coming back into print in four issues published by Image Comics under Ryall and Wood’s new Syzygy imprint (see “New Image Imprint from Former IDW President Chris Ryall and Ashley Wood”).

Each issue of ZvRC: Zombies Vs. Robots Classic will include both remastered classic stories and new bonus material, including a multi-part, completely fictional “Secret History of Zombies Vs Robots.” The first issue will include “Which Came First?” a 26-page origin story. ZvRC: Zombies Vs. Robots Classic #1 will be released on March 30, 2022, and will feature three covers by Wood as well as a blank sketch cover.

Zombies Vs. Robots was first published by IDW in 2006 and has had several spinoffs and sequels, including Zombies Vs. Robots Vs. Amazons, since then. The series was published as a collected edition, termed “Complete,” in 2008, and IDW launched a new series, Zombies Vs. Robots Aventure, in 2009 (see “Zombies ‘Bury,’ ‘Robots’”) and later published a prose anthology based on the comic and another series, Zombies Vs. Robots: Undercity. Sony Pictures acquired the motion picture rights in 2011 (see “Sony Picks Up ‘Zombies Vs. Robots’”). The movie, which was titled Inherit the Earth, was slated to be directed by Andrew Adamson (see “Geek Movie News Round-Up”) but apparently it was never released.

Zombies Vs. Robots was the title where Ash and I first found our shared creative footing,” Ryall said in the announcement. “Now the title is finally in our sole control, which is exciting and invigorating. We can’t wait to not only re-present some little seen ZvR stories but also add all kinds of new chapters to this quite ridiculous saga as well.”
