Ursula LeGuin's classic fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea will be adapted into a graphic novel by Fred Fordham, who was responsible for the best-selling adaptation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird (see "'To Kill a Mockingbird' Adapted into Graphic Novel").  Clarion Books, an imprint of HarperCollins that also publishes LeGuin's novels, will release A Wizard of Earthsea: A Graphic Novel on March 11, 2025, with an announced first printing of 100,000.  The 288-page hardcover, rated for ages 13 and up and marketed as a Young Adult title, will have an MSRP of $26.99.

LeGuin's story of a mage who unleashes a dark force was first published in 1968, a year before her most famous work, The Left Hand of Darkness.  There have been two screen adaptations of A Wizard of Earthsea, a 2004 television series that ran on the Sci Fi Channel and a 2006 film by Studio Ghibli (see "'Tales from Earthsea' Bows August 13th").  In 2019, it was announced that producer Jennifer Fox and A24 were collaborating on a new television series (see "'Earthsea' Series in Development").
