Telepathic Twins Forced to Pull Off Heist After Falling Afoul of Korean Gangsters
Eisner Award-winning writer Derek Kirk Kim and artist Jacob Perez are teaming up for an original crime caper graphic novel,
Royals, which will be published by Image in April 2025. The story, set in Seoul, follows twins with telepathic powers who are forced to commit a daring crime after the local gangsters catch them cheating at poker, a caper that uses their powers but also tests their relationship. Image will release the 216-page graphic novel on April 9, 2025, in comic shops and April 22 in the book channel with an MSRP of $24.99.
"As a lifelong fan of crime capers and Jackie Chan films, this is a dream project come true for me," Kim said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Kim shared a 2010 Eisner Award with Gene Luen Yang for their short story "Urgent Request" from their graphic novel The Eternal Smile. His graphic novel Same Difference was published by Top Shelf and later by First Second (see "Siegel on the 2011 List"), and Image will publish a collected edition of his series The Last Mermaid in September 2024.
