WizKids offered ICv2 a tour of their booth at Gen Con 2024, so we took them up on it and saw some great current and upcoming releases.
WizKids had some of the most talked about miniatures on the floor, especially in the wake of the new D&D 2024 Players Handbook hitting the streets (see "Inside the Brand-New 'Dungeons & Dragons: 2024 Player's Handbook'"). Their hottest release of the show was their D&D Icons of the Realms: 50th Anniversary Booster Set (see "50th Anniversary' Booster Set Incoming"). In fact, the boosters were such a hot commodity that there were none at the booth by the time we got to take the booth tour! In general, fans have been ravenous for D&D: 50th Anniversary products all year along, so this was not too much of a surprise.
The HeroClix offerings were also of note at this booth. The upcoming HeroClix Iconix releases are truly spicy, especially the First Appearance line that features the first comic book appearances of various Marvel characters. The two that seem super-interesting are the First Appearance: Avengers and First Appearance: Wolverine; the Wolverine one should be especially good at retail due to the successful of Deadpool & Wolverine (see " 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Passes $300 Million").
WizKids also had a couple of other honorable mentions at their booth. Pathfinder Battles: Armies of the Dead looks like a particularly strong booster set; as one can never go wrong with undead miniatures. Also, Star Trek: Into the Unknown was out at the booth this year for all to see what the full-version looks like (see "'Star Trek: Into the Unknown' Core Set").
