Toys 'R' Us has opened a new 10,000 square-foot standalone store in suburban Chicago, according to NBC Chicago. The new store, in the Harlem irving Plaza Mall in Norridge, opened last Saturday, one of a series of new stores operated under license from WHP Global, which owns the brands.
There are currently three types of Toys 'R' Us stores: hundreds of Toys 'R' Us shops in Macy's stores nationwide; a handful of standalone "flagship" stores, operated by Go! Retail Group, including a store at Mall of the Americas; and stores in airports and on cruise ships operated by Duty Free America (see "WHP Global Launches New Toys R Us Stores"). Toys 'R' Us opened its first flagship store in the current incarnation at American Dream in New Jersey in 2021 (see "Toys ‘R’ Us Opening Flagship Store").
