The Game Manufacturers Association has issued a correction to its recently announced 2025 Origins Awards categories.

The correction changed the Product of the Year category to a Constructable Game of the Year category. Within the Constuctable Game of the Year category, there will be Product of the Year (Randomized) and Product of the Year (Fixed) awards given out. These new categories presumably cover any game where players must construct an element of the game to play (TCGs, CCGs, CMGs, deck-builders, etc). The "randomized" versus "fixed" award categories likely refers to whether or not the product comes as a blind-box product or a fixed-box product.

In the original announcement, GAMA had left out a TCG category, as pointed out by ICv2 (see "2025 Origins Award Nominations"). GAMA said that the original press release had a mistake in the original list of categories. The correction doesn't include any new categories added to the 2025 Origins Awards that recognize the work of media, creators, and artists. These groups hold stakes within the GAMA organization, both as members and board directors (see "Officer Election"), and are prominent contributors to the games industry as a whole.
